Horses are communicating with us all the time—through posture, expression, energy shifts, and subtle changes in their nervous system.
This 3-hour Winter Renewal Series event is an immersive introduction and deep dive into how horses express how they feel, what they need, and how they experience us.
Designed for equestrians of all disciplines and experience levels, this demonstration-style event blends observation, discussion, and optional hands-on interaction so you can learn to see and feel what your horse is telling you—both on the ground and under saddle.
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to read your horse’s emotional state, how to check in with consent, and how to assess whether your horse feels safe, regulated, and willing in their work.
What We’ll Cover
• Basic signs of parasympathetic vs. sympathetic nervous system activation
• How to tell if a horse wants to be touched or approached
• How to assess whether your horse feels good about having you on their back
• How to gauge your horse’s acceptance of and emotional response to “work”
• How to connect with your own body in order to feel what your horse is feeling
• How to begin exploring energetic shifts, fields and communication
What to Expect
• Live demonstrations with horses
• Guided observation of body language and energy shifts
• Optional participant interaction with horses
• Guided exercises to learn how to "feel" energy
• Practical tools you can apply immediately at home
Participation is always optional! You are welcome to observe, ask questions, and absorb without interacting directly if that feels best for you.
